Happy Birthday, David George!

David George will turn 63 on Saturday, March 12, and what better way to honor him than with a gift to the WMU Foundation?

Just for fun, here are some random facts about David:

  • David has been the president of the WMU Foundation for over twenty years, starting his first day on Wednesday, January 2, 2002.
  • David’s favorite book is A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Van Auken.
  • His favorite TV show is Family Feud. He and his wife Allyson can watch it for hours and have done so for years!
  • His favorite movie is It’s a Wonderful Life.
  • While he asks for no judgment, his favorite food is a hamburger from Krystal.
  • David has several favorite Bible verses:
    • John 3:16 is his assurance of salvation.
    • Jeremiah 29:11 reminds him that God’s plans are good even in those times that it’s hard to understand or see the bigger picture.
    • Psalm  42:5, 42:11, and 43:5 – Three times the psalmists say the same thing: Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
  • When asked to share some wisdom he’s gained over the last 60+ years, David had some great advice to offer:
    • Be thankful for problems that money can fix, and be thankful that God can fix all the others.
    • The best way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket.

We hope you have a great birthday, David, and that you feel loved and appreciated not only on your birthday but every day.

It’s been a few years since this photo was taken, but the sentiment remains the same!
