WMU and the WMU Foundation established the HEART Fund in response to the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001. To honor the 20-year anniversary, we set a goal to grant 20 HEART Fund grants throughout 2021. We ended the year with 25 HEART Fund grants awarded for a total amount of $256,014.00, the largest total amount and total number of grants given in a single year in the history of this fund.
One of these grants went to Next Level Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, after the building suffered major damage from Hurricane Ida in August. “My husband and I are so grateful that our church will be receiving this grant,” said LaKeisha Williams, who helped her husband Bobby plant the church. “This will be the start of putting our church back together so that we can continue to spread God’s word and reach so many in the community.”
Your gifts to the WMU Foundation make a difference. Thank you for your continued partnership with us.
