A Life Shaped for Mission: Kaye Miller

Some lives are shaped for missions long before they ever step into leadership.

For Kaye Miller, that shaping began early, and it continues even now.

As a young girl, Kaye watched her parents faithfully follow God’s call to serve as missionaries in Thailand. Day after day, she saw what it looked like to seek the Lord, trust His direction, and live with a sense of urgency for those who did not yet know Christ. Their example didn’t just influence her; it formed her. It planted in her heart a love for Christ and a desire to see others come to know Him. That same foundation continues to shape the way she lives, disciples, and leads today.

In the midst of a full and busy home, Kaye’s life is marked by what matters most—a deep love for Christ and a sincere love for others. As a wife and mother, she remains anchored in that foundation, faithfully seeking the Lord day by day and allowing that relationship to shape everything else. Those closest to her point to her steady commitment to place Christ first, a commitment that continues to guide her life and influence those around her.

That same faithfulness extends beyond her home and into the lives of others. Whether serving with Acteens, leading in Children in Action, or walking alongside young women as they grow in their understanding of God’s heart for the nations, Kaye continues to invest in the next generation. She finds great joy in watching the light of understanding take hold. When young women begin to see the importance of prayer, the call to live on mission, and the privilege of sharing Christ with others.

Over time, that quiet, consistent faithfulness has opened the door for broader leadership. Kaye has served in significant roles within WMU, including as national WMU president and now, as chair of the WMU Foundation board. But her influence has never been rooted in a title. It is rooted in a life shaped by Christ and continually poured out for others.

And that is where her legacy is still being lived out.

What was passed down to Kaye through the faithful example of her parents did not stop with her. It continues through the way she lives, the way she disciples others, and the way she faithfully points the next generation toward a life on mission.

Even now, that legacy is growing. Not only through what Kaye has done, but through the ways she continues to invest, to disciple, and to encourage others to follow Christ wherever He leads.By including the WMU Foundation in her estate plans, Kaye is part of the 1888 Circle, a community of faithful supporters who are investing in the future of missions through legacy giving. Through this planned gift, she is helping ensure that the mission that has shaped her life will continue to shape the lives of others for generations to come.

Her story is a reminder that this is often how God works. Not always through moments that feel big or visible, but through daily faithfulness. Through lives quietly shaped by the Word, by prayer, and by the example of others who have gone before us. Through women who take the time to disciple, to invest, and to point others to Christ.

Across generations, this kind of faithfulness has shaped the mission of WMU, and it continues today in churches, homes, and communities around the world.

Kaye’s life invites us to pause and consider: Who helped shape your faith? Whose example helped you see what it looks like to follow Christ and live on mission?

Because the legacy of faithfulness we see in her life is not just something to remember. It is something we are invited to carry forward.
