Living on Mission: Linda Cooper’s Legacy of Faith and the Call to Go

For Linda Cooper, giving through the WMU Foundation is not just an act of generosity, it’s an act of obedience and worship. Her story, deeply rooted in faith, offers a compelling reminder that the call to live on mission is both personal and communal, shaped by those who’ve gone before us and fueled by the gospel imperative to reach the nations.

As a lifelong Southern Baptist and servant of Christ, Linda reflects on how her support of WMU through the WMU Foundation has shaped her own faith journey. “By giving through the WMU Foundation, I can be assured that God’s resources entrusted to me will be used to further His mission of making disciples of Jesus who live on mission,” she shares. “I’m honored to glorify and proclaim His name through my gifts.”

A Foundation Built on Faithful Witnesses

Linda’s passion for missions was sparked early on, nurtured by her Christian parents and grandparents. “It wasn’t, ‘Are we going to church today?’ but ‘Yes, we will be there,’” she recalls with gratitude. This steadfast example laid the groundwork for her lifelong commitment to live on mission. “My parents and grandparents were major players in shaping my faith.”

Her life story is one woven with threads of faithful obedience, modeled by those closest to her and inspired by the legacy of WMU pioneers like Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong. “As Southern Baptists, we are so blessed to stand on the shoulders of faithful servants of the Lord who loved and shared the gospel with lost people all around the world as they faithfully encouraged others to do the same,” Linda says. “Still today, the faith and life lived by Lottie and Annie challenges us to pray, give, and go… until ALL have heard.”

What It Means to Live on Mission

At the heart of Linda’s conviction is a clear understanding of what it means to live on mission. “The Great Commission is a mandate to all believers in Jesus Christ,” she says. “It translates in the original language to ‘as you are going,’ which says to me we are to go and share the gospel every day in our everyday lives. That’s living on mission.”

For Linda, this is not just theory—it’s practice. As a healthcare professional, she sees firsthand the impact of living out the gospel in daily life. “Lost people are not knocking down our church doors trying to get in. They’re out there where we do life every day,” she explains. “I share Christ with my patients, which encourages those who are believers to do the same as they go about their daily lives.”

A Call to Support Mission Work Today

In a world still teeming with those who have never heard the gospel, the mission is far from complete. Linda emphasizes the importance of supporting WMU’s mission through the WMU Foundation. “We need to continue supporting WMU’s mission because there are still lost people who need to hear the good news of the gospel,” she says.

The WMU Foundation plays a vital role in ensuring that the work of making disciples—at home and around the world—continues. Through scholarships, endowments, and mission support, every gift makes a difference in reaching people with the hope of Christ.

Just as Linda Cooper has found joy in giving to support gospel work, you too can be part of what God is doing through the WMU Foundation.
