Meant to Go and Give

In Matthew 28:19–20, Jesus gives us a clear command: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations” (v. 19).

The heart of the Great Commission is that we are to make disciples. This is not a suggestion; it’s a calling for every believer. In our going – whether across the room or across the world – in our praying, and in our sacrificial giving, each of us has a role to play in advancing God’s Kingdom.

At the WMU Foundation, we believe supporting the ministry of WMU is one of the most powerful ways to respond to this call. When we give out of love for Christ and a desire to see others come to know Him, we experience the joy of living in obedience to His mission. We are helping to make disciples of Jesus who live on mission.

Many who give through the WMU Foundation do so because they’ve seen firsthand how WMU Missions Discipleship shapes lives. Some attended missions camp or Girls in Action or Royal Ambassador meetings as children, and others were blessed by scholarships or inspired by the leadership of a missions mentor. These experiences created a passion that continues to grow—and that passion overflows in generosity.

Being a cheerful giver means finding joy in aligning our resources with God’s mission. When we give, we are not just donating, we are sending missionaries, equipping believers, and fueling discipleship efforts around the world. Through the Vision Fund and other endowments, WMU continues to provide tools and training that help churches live out the mission and go and give.

Your gifts also come alongside the work of International Mission Board and North American Mission Board missionaries. While the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions and Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions directly support their ministries, your partnership through the WMU Foundation provides additional resources to ensure these workers are supported, encouraged, and equipped for the task and that more are prepared to answer the call to serve as well.

Every time you give to WMU through the WMU Foundation, you are answering the Great Commission. You are joining hands with believers around the world to make disciples, teach truth, and share hope. There is no greater joy than knowing your generosity helps carry the name of Jesus to the ends of the earth.
