Temple of Faith Baptist Church Named Inaugural Recipient of Gift of Missions Curriculum Grant

The WMU Foundation is pleased to announce Temple of Faith Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, as the inaugural recipient of the Gift of Missions Curriculum Grant.

Created in celebration of the WMU Foundation’s 30th anniversary, the Gift of Missions Endowment exists to help ensure that every church, regardless of size or budget, can lead children, students, and adults in missions discipleship. Through this grant, churches may be reimbursed for approved WMU curriculum expenses that support missions education and engagement within their congregations.

Temple of Faith Baptist Church plans to use the grant to strengthen missions discipleship efforts across multiple age groups within the church, including Mission Friends, Children on Mission, Youth on Mission, Royal Ambassadors, and adult missions groups. The curriculum resources will help further align their missions discipleship ministries with WMU ministries across the United States while also helping contextualize missions education within their local church community.

Susan Hodnett, executive director of Michigan WMU, shares, “Temple of Faith, Sister Odelle & Pastor David Cox love and serve their community like Jesus! Additional assistance, such as this grant, will help them stay focused on the mission of sharing the Gospel!”

“One of the greatest joys of legacy giving is seeing faithful generosity continue to impact future generations,” said Peggy Darby, president of the WMU Foundation. “We are grateful for Temple of Faith Baptist Church and their commitment to missions discipleship across every age group.”

The Gift of Missions Endowment is one example of how legacy giving continues to create lasting gospel impact through missions discipleship and ministry support for churches across the country.
