Charlene Miller: A Life of Prayer, Legacy, and Mission

For Charlene Miller, supporting the WMU Foundation is more than a financial commitment—it’s a reflection of a life deeply rooted in faith, prayer, and a desire to see the gospel shared around the world.

“My support of WMU through the WMU Foundation increased my knowledge of the scope of both organizations’ work,” Charlene shares. “That knowledge moves me to faithfully pray for their important work.”

Prayer is central to Charlene’s personal mission journey, but so is the legacy of faith she inherited. From a young age, she was shaped by the powerful witness of her parents and grandparents, whose love for Jesus left an indelible mark on her heart. That foundation was further enriched through a special friendship with Rosalie Hunt, a retired missionary and author, who stirred Charlene’s passion for missions and strengthened her connection to the WMU.

It’s no surprise that the stories of legendary WMU leaders like Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong continue to impact Charlene today. “Lottie Moon’s life of sacrifice and service and Annie Armstrong’s tireless advocacy and support of missions and missionaries inspire me to follow their lead,” she says. “Both are amazing stories of women determined to make a difference for Christ.”

Charlene lives with that same determination, embracing a life on mission that is active, prayerful, and intentional. “Living on mission means consciously sharing the good news of the gospel, providing help to those in need, and being a witness of Christ in word and deed by loving one another and the world,” she explains. “It is accomplished by praying, giving, doing, and going.”

In a world increasingly marked by uncertainty and division, Charlene believes now is the time for believers to step forward in faith. “The Great Commission calls all believers to share the gospel,” she says. “We live in a world of turmoil; we must not hesitate to share His peace.”

For Charlene, the WMU Foundation is a trusted partner in fulfilling that calling. Through her giving, she knows her support is part of a much larger story—one that spans generations and reaches around the world.

As we reflect on Charlene’s story and the legacy of faithful women like Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong, we’re reminded that the mission is far from over. Each gift to the WMU Foundation is an investment in lives transformed by the gospel—through prayer, through love, and through the relentless hope we have in Christ.
