What is planned giving?
Planned giving is simply a charitable gift that is a part of your overall financial or estate plan. There are a number of simple ways to make a planned gift. We encourage you to talk to an attorney or financial planner about planned giving, and feel free to contact us with questions.
Why planned giving?
By investing in the work of the WMU Foundation, my husband Tommy and I are helping to ensure the future of WMU and how it shares the love of Christ through its organizations and projects. Won’t you join us in continuing the wonderful legacy of Woman’s Missionary Union by donating to the WMU Foundation?
— Cindy and Tommy, active missions supporters
Where do I start?
We would love to support you through your planned giving efforts, and we believe planned giving begins with whole-life stewardship. You could start by going through our More than Money Bible study. Below you’ll find a few simple ways to make a planned gift!
Give through your will
A simple bequest in your will is one of the easiest methods of planned giving. Here is sample language to include in your will.
Give through your life insurance policy or
retirement plan
You can designate the WMU Foundation as a beneficiary or co-beneficiary of your life insurance policy or your retirement plan. Contact your financial planner or the WMU Foundation for more details.
Give through your donor advised fund
With over 120 funds and endowments to choose from, you can support your missions passion with your selected distributions.
Give through your IRA
Most people have heard of the benefits of naming a 501(c)(3) charity as a beneficiary of their IRA, but did you know that you can also make a gift from your IRA while still alive?
Contact us for more information about planned giving through annuities, charitable remainder trusts, or revocable living trusts. We are happy to talk with you about your specific needs.
Leave a legacy through your missions passion:
Have you considered leaving a missions legacy by including WMU and/or the WMU Foundation in your estate plans? You can leave a gift to God’s mission through your will, a trust, a Charitable Gift Annuity, 401K or other retirement plan, or through a life insurance policy.
1888 Circle
When you include WMU or the WMU Foundation in your estate plans, you are automatically a part of our legacy society, the 1888 Circle.
